Mechanical Engineer (Static)

To undertake Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance requirements to mechanical and electrical plant, equipment infrastructure and supply systems.  The role will also include responsibility for ensuring adherence to statutory requirements, diagnosis of faults, specifications for remedial works, term contracts, service contract management and maintenance audits.  You will also liaise with and advise technical and project supervisors on planned preventative maintenance requirements for the site.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking/monitoring the Mechanical and Electrical planned preventative maintenance operations and insurance checks where assigned.

  • Ordering, writing specifications and controlling specialist Mechanical and Electrical servicing contractors in conjunction with the Senior Engineers.

  • Implementing and monitoring a system of testing the Mechanical and Electrical distribution within the KCE FM managed building(s). To record results and review frequencies in accordance with the developed policy, strategy and plan for the project.

  • Assisting and advising departments on the Mechanical and Electrical testing of appliances.

  • Ensuring that the FM Department staff and service/small works contractors comply with current Mechanical and Electrical regulations.

  • Ensuring that the requirements of all relevant Acts, Regulations, etc. are complied with for the works under the post holder’s direct control, such as Health And Safety At Work, Local Authority Planning Acts, Building Regulations, etc.

  • Liaising with other members of KCE FM staff, external trade and professional and regulatory bodies (such as Gas Safe/NICEIC) as appropriate.

  • Providing professional and technical guidance to other members of the FM Department staff and other departments as appropriate.

  • Working closely with all other service providers to the FM Department.

  • Have a good working knowledge of Building Management Control Systems (e.g. TREND).

  • Demonstrate full first line understanding of computerised Building Management Controls Systems.

  • Be fully conversant with current electrical/mechanical techniques for building services systems, and be able to use all relevant electrical testing equipment and installation/maintenance tools.

  • Undertaking training where necessary, and providing training to multi-skilled staff on the safe operation and maintenance of the installed building services on the site(s).

  • Installation supervision of new minor works and projects as required.

 

Person Specification

  • Served a recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering Maintenance

  • Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance

  • A focus on service delivery

  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficient in the use of computers to include Microsoft Office & Outlook

  • Self motivated with the ability to be a team builder and a team leader
